Welcome to the Party

Hi, I’m Aly.

Anyone else read that just like the cute little baby fish saying “Hi, I’m Dory”?

Disney is clearly on my brain today.

But allow me to welcome you to the party!

You may be wondering what this random little corner of the internet that you’ve stumbled upon is and why you should keep reading.

So, let’s talk a little about what the heck this wild ride is going to be and look like in order for us both to get some clarity and maybe set a few intentions along the way.

I’ve had this burning desire lately to grow something.

When I was reading a book, the author said, “create a desires list” like a real one…not the one where you think of something fun and then your brain pops in and goes “Ha, that’s cute, you can’t have that.”

As I was attempting to create that list, in addition to “a massage,” one thing I wrote was “I grew a wildly successful brand from scratch that helps so many people thrive.”

And, at first, I rolled my eyes.

Mostly because, if you’ve maybe run into me before, you know I’ve been dabbling in creating something since about 2018.

In 2018, I started a coaching business.

I never had this crazy desire to be a coach but I didn’t love my corporate HR job and when I learned about coaching, I thought I could try this as my path out of Corporate America.

Spoiler alert: I left aaaand got suckered back in but that’s a story for another time.

So I’ve had this side hustle, full time hustle then dwindling hustle and it never really felt like “OMG, that’s my jam.”

And for my fellow Sacral Mani Gens, (we’ll probably be referencing Human Design around these parts so if you’re curious to learn more, I recommend Googling Erin Claire Jones, she’s fab) you know that feeling is critical to our path.

It was more of a “yah, that thing I feel guilty about come tax time because I see we’re losing money with it.”

But anyways, lately, that feeling has shifted and I’ve been really itching to grow something from scratch.

When I was starting business numba one, on a trip across the office to the bathroom, the phrase “Corporate Hippie” popped into my head.

It felt like a lightbulb moment until I went back to my desk and found out that someone already had some iteration of corporate hippie vibes on the inner webs.

Fast forward to recently and that desires list…

After writing it down, I thought about what that would actually be.

If I was, finally, going to give myself permission to grow something from scratch without that voice popping in, what would it be?

Since that initial moment in 2018, the phrase Corporate Hippie has lingered in the background of my brain.

My business name changed from Aly Brine Coaching to The Corporate Hippie Hustle to, most recently, Corporate Hippie Culture.

There’s something about this Corporate Hippie thing that has stuck with me and even though there are a handful of pockets on the internet talking about their version of this idea, I feel it’s time to grow my iteration.

To grow in my own voice and my own way.

I love words and I love to write.

I’ve been told I’m a good writer (hopefully you at least half agree, if you’ve made it this far.)

I’ve also had some unique experiences during my time in Corporate America and thoughts that I want to share with other people in hopes that it can help their career and life journey.

I really want this to feel like you're just chillin’ chatting with a friend who’s giving you a different perspective on life.

Even if you don’t agree with all of them, I hope some of my thoughts make you go “Hmmm…”

I hope you’re able to find a nugget in these musings that inspire you to approach your life and career differently.

You’re able to learn something in order to teach someone else.

You’re able to embrace the best version of you.

Ultimately, I hope you come to this adventure with an open mind, take what you need and leave the rest.
